About Gujarat PSI
The Gujarat Police Recruitment Board fills the PSI cadre: Unarmed PSI, Armed PSI (Platoon Commander) and Jailer Group-2. PSI and Lokrakshak share one advertisement and one physical test, so you can apply for both. After the physical test, PSI candidates write a two-paper main exam.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: Up to 35 years, counted on 23 December 2025.
Age relaxation
- OBC: 5 years
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- EWS: 5 years
- Unreserved women: 5 years
- SC, ST, SEBC and EWS men of Gujarat origin: 5 years; women of these categories: 10 years
- Recognised sportspersons: 5 more years on top of the above
- Ex-servicemen: length of service plus up to 3 years
Qualification
A bachelor's degree from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the government, plus basic knowledge of computer applications.
Other conditions
- Reserved category relaxation and reservation apply only to SC, ST, SEBC and EWS candidates of Gujarat origin.
- Minimum height: men 165 cm (162 cm for ST candidates of Gujarat origin); women 155 cm (150 cm for ST candidates of Gujarat origin).
- Men's chest: at least 79 cm unexpanded and 84 cm expanded, with an expansion of at least 5 cm.

What they ask
Paper 1 has 200 one-mark MCQs in two parts, and you need 40% in Part A (reasoning and maths) and in Part B (general studies) separately. Every question has an option E for Not attempted: a wrong answer or a question with no option marked costs 0.25 marks, while E costs nothing. Paper 2 is handwritten: a 350-word Gujarati essay, precis, comprehension, report and letter writing, then English precis, comprehension and translation. It also needs 40%, and it is checked only for the top scorers of Paper 1, about twenty times the vacancies.
How to prepare
- Mark option E on every question you decide to skip. Leaving a question unmarked is penalised the same as a wrong answer.
- Build running stamina months before the physical test. Men must finish 5000 m within 25 minutes and women 1600 m within 9 minutes 30 seconds.
- Practise Part A every day. Reasoning and quantitative aptitude are half of Paper 1 and carry their own 40% cut-off.
- Write one Gujarati essay and one Gujarati-to-English translation each week, since Paper 2 is descriptive.
