What they ask
The Talati paper is short: 100 one-mark questions in 60 minutes, about 36 seconds a question. Half of it is general awareness, which the rules spell out as mental ability, history and culture of India and Gujarat, geography, sports, polity, Panchayati Raj, welfare schemes, economy, science and current affairs. Gujarati and English grammar carry 20 marks each and maths only 10. A wrong answer, a blank answer or more than one marked option each costs 0.25 marks.
How to prepare
- Study Panchayati Raj and Gujarat's welfare schemes closely. Both are named in the syllabus and relate directly to panchayat work.
- Practise full 100-question papers in 60 minutes. Speed matters more here than in the longer state exams.
- Never leave a bubble empty. Choose option E for questions you skip, because blanks are penalised.
- Revise Gujarati and English grammar with short daily drills; together they are 40 of the 100 marks.
