About GSSSB CCE
GSSSB fills Class 3 posts in Gujarat government departments through one Combined Competitive Exam. Group A covers Senior Clerk, Head Clerk, Collector Office (revenue) Clerk, Office Superintendent and Social Welfare Inspector, while Group B is Junior Clerk. Everyone takes the same prelim, then Group A and Group B candidates write separate main exams.

- Ex-servicemen: length of service plus up to 3 years
- Relaxed upper age cannot go beyond 45
- Reserved category candidates who apply against unreserved posts get no relaxation

What they ask
The prelim has 150 one-mark questions in 120 minutes, and reasoning alone is 60 of them, the largest section by far. Each wrong answer costs 0.25 marks. The prelim only screens: about seven times the vacancies in each category move on, and the selection list comes from the main exam. Group B's main exam is another MCQ paper where government schemes and current affairs carry 30 marks each, while Group A writes Gujarati, English and General Studies papers by hand.
How to prepare
- Put reasoning first. It carries 60 of the 150 prelim marks, as much as general awareness and quantitative aptitude together.
- Skip questions you cannot narrow down. With 0.25 marks cut per wrong answer, twenty blind guesses that go wrong cost 5 marks.
- For Group B, keep a running list of Gujarat and central government schemes. Schemes and current affairs together are 60 of the 200 main exam marks.
- Group A candidates should practise essays, letters and comprehension answers in both Gujarati and English, since two of the three main papers test language skill.
- Aim well above 40% in every paper. The notification sets 40% as the minimum qualifying standard at each stage for all categories.
