About APSSB CHSL
The CHSL exam is APSSB's Class 12 level recruitment for Group C posts. Advertisement No. 05/26, dated 9 June 2026, covered clerical posts such as Lower Division Clerk, Junior Secretariat Assistant and Data Entry Operator at Pay Level 4, and field posts such as Agriculture Field Assistant, Fishery Demonstrator and Stockman. The clerical posts add a typing skill test after the written exam.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 18–32 years, counted on 10 August 2026 (closing date of the 2026 application).
Age relaxation
- ST: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- Limits differ by post: 18 to 32 years for LDC, JSA, DEO and Agriculture Field Assistant; 18 to 35 for Field Assistant, Fishery Demonstrator, Laboratory Assistant and Stockman; 18 to 28 for Record Keeper.
- PwBD candidates who are also APST get up to 15 years.
- State government employees with three years of continuous service get 5 more years for Group C posts in the same or an allied cadre.
- LDC posts under the Directorate of Sainik Welfare are for ex-servicemen aged 18 to 40.

What they ask
The CHSL paper follows the same four-part format as APSSB's other combined exams: 25 questions each in general awareness, reasoning, arithmetic and English, at 2 marks a question. Arithmetic stays with school-level chapters such as ratio, percentage, interest, mensuration and data tables. General awareness includes current events, history, polity, geography, everyday science and possible Arunachal-specific questions. You need 33 percent in aggregate, with no sectional cut-off and no negative marking.
How to prepare
- Start typing practice early if you want LDC, JSA or DEO. The skill test asks for 35 words per minute on a computer and must be cleared.
- Get the six-month computer application diploma sorted before you apply for clerical posts; without it you cannot pick LDC, JSA or DEO.
- Check the age limit for each post you mark. Record Keeper stops at 28; LDC, JSA, DEO and Agriculture Field Assistant at 32; Field Assistant, Fishery Demonstrator, Laboratory Assistant and Stockman at 35.
- Attempt all 100 questions, since wrong answers carry no penalty.
- Read English grammar topics from the syllabus list one by one: voice, narration, idioms, one-word substitution and sentence shuffling come up by name.
