What they ask

Every ADRE Grade III paper has 150 multiple choice questions in 3 hours, and a quarter of a question's marks goes for each wrong answer. The graduate paper totals 175 marks because its 25 reading comprehension questions carry 2 marks each. The HSSLC paper leans on General English and General Mathematics, about 35 questions each, and the Driver paper adds 20 questions on road transport. Papers were set in Assamese, Bengali, English, Bodo and Hindi, and the English version counts if versions differ.

How to prepare

  • For graduate-level posts, spend extra time on reading comprehension: 25 questions at 2 marks each make up 50 of the 175 marks.
  • For HSSLC-level posts, English and Mathematics together are about 70 of the 150 questions, so practise both every day.
  • Get your computer, typing or driving skills in shape early; posts that need them have a skill test after the written exam.
  • Solve the 2024 question booklets and final answer keys on the SLRC Class III portal to judge the level and pace.
  • Use daily topic-wise practice quizzes on the free Improvam app for GK, reasoning and maths.
