About APSSB MTS (CSL)
The CSL exam is APSSB's Class 10 level recruitment for Group C posts. The 2025 round (Advertisement No. 04/25) covered Multi-Tasking Staff posts such as peon, chowkidar, cook and sweeper at Pay Level 1, plus laboratory and library attendants and, that year, police and excise constables and firemen. MTS posts in many departments and district offices are filled on the written exam alone.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 18–35 years, counted on 25 August 2025.
Age relaxation
- ST: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- In the 2025 round, constable posts were 18 to 22 years and Fireman 18 to 32.
- PwBD candidates who are also APST get up to 15 years.
- Ex-servicemen can subtract their service period from their age and are eligible if the result is no more than 3 years above the limit.
Qualification
Class 10 pass from a recognised board. Most MTS posts also accept an ITI or equivalent qualification.
Other conditions
- The eligibility clause asks only for Indian citizenship; most vacancies are reserved for APST candidates.
- Constable and fireman posts carry physical standards and efficiency tests set out post by post in the advertisement.

What they ask
The CSL paper uses APSSB's standard four sections of 25 questions each, at 2 marks a question, covering general awareness, reasoning, arithmetic and English. In the 2025 round you needed at least 33 percent in each section, not just in aggregate, so a weak English or maths score could knock you out. There is no negative marking, and the final merit is drawn from written marks.
How to prepare
- Do not skip any section. The 2025 advertisement asked for 33 percent in every subject, so one weak section can end your chances.
- Practise English basics such as spotting errors, synonyms, antonyms and fill in the blanks until you are steady above the cut-off.
- Revise arithmetic chapters named in the syllabus: simplification, percentage, average, profit and loss, and time and work.
- Attempt every question, since wrong answers are not penalised.
- Choose posts you really want and rank them in order, because the merit list follows your stated preference.
