About APPSC TGT
APPSC recruits Trained Graduate Teachers for government secondary schools under the state Education Department. Advertisement No. 02/2026, dated 23 March 2026, covered 389 posts in 14 subjects, with Physics (73) and Chemistry (47) the largest. TGT is a Group B (Non-Gazetted) post at Pay Level 7 (₹44,900 to ₹1,42,400).
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 21–35 years, counted on 27 April 2026.
Age relaxation
- The upper limit is relaxable under Arunachal Pradesh government orders.
- A one-time relaxation under the state notification of 21 April 2025 covers general candidates born on or after 1 January 1989 and APST candidates born on or after 1 January 1984.
- PwBD candidates and regular state government employees get concessions under government rules.
Qualification
A bachelor's degree in Arts, Science or Commerce with at least second class, with the teaching subject studied in every year or semester, plus a B.Ed (General) from an NCTE-recognised institute. A four-year integrated degree with B.Ed (General) also counts; B.Ed (Special Education) does not.
Other conditions
- A master's degree in the subject does not replace a bachelor's degree that lacked it.
- The B.Ed must be a two-year course, unless it was awarded before 2015.
- Final-year students of the degree or B.Ed cannot apply.
- You can apply for only one TGT subject.
- APPSC invites applications from Indian citizens; 305 of the 389 posts were reserved for APST candidates.

What they ask
Both written papers are objective. Paper A (150 marks) mixes general English, general awareness with a North-East India part, teaching aptitude and pedagogy, where the syllabus names learning theories, lesson planning, assessment types, NEP 2020 and foundational literacy and numeracy. Paper B (300 marks) is on your own subject and carries twice the weight. To reach the viva-voce you need 33 percent across both papers and at least 20 percent in each, and each wrong answer costs one-sixth of the marks.
How to prepare
- Spend most of your time on Paper B. At 300 marks it is worth double Paper A.
- Cover pedagogy topic by topic from the APPSC list: learning theories, NRT and CRT, formative and summative assessment, NEP 2020 and FLN.
- Do not ignore Paper A even if your subject is strong, because scoring under 20 percent in either paper ends your attempt.

- Prepare a short model lesson in your subject for the classroom teaching part of the viva-voce.
