About AP TET
APTET is the eligibility test Andhra Pradesh uses for teachers of Classes I to VIII in government, local body, model, residential, welfare society, aided and private unaided schools. The School Education Department conducts it as a computer based test in all districts. The certificate does not expire, and your APTET score makes up 20 of the 100 merit marks in the DSC teacher recruitment test.
Eligibility
Qualification
Paper 1A: Intermediate with at least 50% (45% for SC/ST/BC/PwBD) and a two-year D.El.Ed or equivalent. Paper 2A: graduation with at least 50% (45% for SC/ST/BC/PwBD) and a B.Ed recognised by NCTE, or the other routes listed in the information bulletin. Final-semester D.El.Ed/B.Ed students can apply.
Other conditions
- Candidates with both D.El.Ed and B.Ed can write both papers.
- Pass marks out of 150: 90 (60%) for OC/EWS, 75 (50%) for BC, 60 (40%) for SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen.

What they ask
Every paper has 150 one-mark multiple choice questions in 2 hours 30 minutes, with no negative marking. Paper 1A has five parts of 30 questions: child development and pedagogy, Language I, English, mathematics and environmental studies. Paper 2A keeps the first three parts and adds 60 questions on your subject area, split between content and pedagogy. Child development questions follow the Andhra Pradesh D.El.Ed curriculum.
How to prepare
- Aim well above the pass mark. Your TET score counts for 20% in the DSC, so extra marks help later.
- Choose Language I with care; the bulletin ties it to the language you studied up to Class X, in Intermediate or in your D.El.Ed methodology.
- Revise your D.El.Ed psychology notes on growth, learning, personality and assessment for the child development section.
- Answer every question, since there is no negative marking.
- Take daily topic-wise practice quizzes on the free Improvam app for pedagogy and subject content.

How to apply
- Apply online through the TET and DSC portal of the School Education Department.
- Pay Rs 1,000 for each paper; candidates writing more than one paper pay separately for each.
Photo and signature
- Photo: Paste a 3.5 x 3.5 cm photograph on white paper, sign below it in black ink, and scan both together as a JPEG of not more than 50 KB.
- Signature: Signed below the pasted photograph and scanned in the same image.

Yes. The notification says the APTET certificate is valid for life under NCTE guidelines, and certificates issued before 9 June 2021 are also valid for life under G.O.Ms.No.69 of 2021.
