About APPSC Group 2
APPSC Group-II recruits for executive posts such as Deputy Tahsildar, Sub-Registrar Grade-II and Prohibition and Excise Sub-Inspector, and for non-executive posts such as Assistant Section Officer and Senior Auditor. The latest cycle, Notification No. 11/2023 of 7 December 2023, listed 331 executive and 566 non-executive vacancies. After the screening test and mains, shortlisted candidates must also pass a computer proficiency test before appointment.

- 5 years for SC, ST, BC and EWS candidates; 10 years for SC/ST carried-forward (limited) vacancies.
- 10 years for persons with benchmark disabilities.
- Ex-servicemen and NCC instructors: 3 years plus length of service.
- Regular AP State Government employees: length of service up to 5 years.
- Widows, divorced and judicially separated women who have not remarried, for Junior Assistant posts: upper age limit 48 years for SC/ST and 43 years for others.

What they ask
The screening test is one 150-question paper on Indian history, geography, Indian society, current affairs and mental ability, 30 marks each, in 150 minutes. The main exam has two 150-question objective papers: Paper I on the social and cultural history of Andhra Pradesh and the Indian Constitution, and Paper II on the Indian and AP economy and science and technology. A wrong answer at either stage costs one-third of that question's marks. Those picked on mains marks then sit a practical computer proficiency test of 60 minutes, which is qualifying only.
How to prepare
- Give Andhra history real time: Paper I Section A runs from the Satavahanas and Eastern Chalukyas to the national movement in Andhra and the formation of the state.
- For the Constitution section, prepare union-state relations, the Rajamannar, Sarkaria and Punchhi reports, the 73rd and 74th Amendments and electoral reforms, which the syllabus names.
- Practise the listed mental ability topics, including statements and assumptions, series, coding-decoding and basic numeracy such as averages, percentages and time and work.
- Learn MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint basics and work on typing speed; you need 40% (OC), 35% (BC) or 30% (SC/ST/PH) in the CPT.
