About AP Police SI
SLPRB recruits Stipendiary Cadet Trainee Sub-Inspectors for civil police, Reserve Sub-Inspectors for the Armed Reserve and Sub-Inspectors for the Special Protection Force. The notification dated 16 September 2026 lists 253 SI (Civil), 116 RSI (AR) and 9 SPF SI posts, 378 in all. Women can apply for the civil and AR posts; SPF posts are for men only.

General category: 21–27 years, counted on 1 July 2026.
Age relaxation
- OBC: 5 years
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- EWS: 5 years
- Up to 5 years for BC (non-creamy layer), SC, ST and EWS candidates.
- AP State Government employees: length of regular service, up to 5 years.
- Ex-servicemen and whole-time NCC instructors: 3 years plus the length of service.
Qualification
A degree from a university established under a Central or State Act or an institution recognised by the UGC, as on 1 July 2026. SC and ST candidates who passed Intermediate and studied a degree at a university in India are also eligible. Distance education degrees need DEC recognition.
Other conditions
- Born between 2 July 1999 and 1 July 2005 for the general age range.
- Men: height at least 167.6 cm, chest at least 86.3 cm with 5 cm expansion. Women (Civil and AR only): height at least 152.5 cm, weight at least 40 kg. Lower limits apply to Aboriginal ST candidates in the listed agency areas.

What they ask
The preliminary test has two objective papers of 100 questions each: arithmetic with reasoning at SSC standard, and general studies at degree standard. You need 40% in each paper as OC, 35% as BC or 30% as SC/ST, and these marks are not carried forward. The final exam adds two descriptive language papers, English and Telugu or Urdu, that you must pass, plus two 200-question objective papers on the same subjects as the prelims. The descriptive papers ask for a short essay, precis, comprehension, letter or report writing and translation.
How to prepare
- Practise writing in both languages. Papers I and II are qualifying, and failing either one ends your selection regardless of your objective scores.
- Cover the arithmetic list in the notification: number system, interest, ratio, averages, percentages, profit and loss, time and work, time and distance, clocks and calendars, partnership and mensuration.
- For general studies, read Indian polity and economy with rural development and planning, since the syllabus names them, along with history, geography, science and current events.
- Check the PMT limits before you apply and build running fitness early, as PET marks count directly for RSI (AR) and SPF SI selection.
