About AP Forest Section Officer
Forest Section Officers belong to the A.P. Forest Subordinate Service and are recruited through APPSC. Brief Notification No. 17/2026, dated 15 September 2026, lists 26 vacancies with a pay scale of Rs 32,670 to 1,01,970. Online applications run from 16 October to 5 November 2026.
Eligibility
Qualification
A bachelor's degree with Botany, Forestry, Horticulture, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Geology or Agriculture as a subject, or a B.E. in Chemical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, from a recognised university.
Other conditions
- Age limits and physical requirements will be in the detailed notification, due on or before 16 October 2026.
- Candidates must pass a walking test and a medical examination arranged by the Forest Department.

What they ask
The written exam has three 150-mark objective papers after a qualifying English and Telugu test at SSC level, which you must clear in each language separately. Paper I covers general studies and mental ability, Paper II is SSC-standard mathematics, and Paper III is general forestry, from plant science and soils to forest law and remote sensing. A wrong answer costs one-third of the question's marks.
How to prepare
- Paper III rewards subject knowledge: work through all eleven forestry units, from plant science and soils to forest mensuration, remote sensing and forest legislation.
- Do not skip Telugu. The qualifying test checks English and Telugu separately, so a weak Telugu score can disqualify you.
- Revise SSC mathematics chapter by chapter; Paper II is a full 150 marks on its own.
- Prepare for the walking test and medical exam, and practise MS Office for the computer proficiency test.
