About DNH DD Forest Guard

Forest Guards and Foresters work for the UT's Forest Department and can be posted anywhere in Dadra and Nagar Haveli or Daman and Diu. The SSB advertised them together in Advertisement No. 03, dated 30 July 2024: 11 Forest Guard posts for Daman & Diu district, 42 for Dadra & Nagar Haveli district and 9 Forester posts for Dadra & Nagar Haveli, with some Forest Guard posts marked as anticipated. The physical endurance test ran from 20 January to 14 February 2025 at the cricket stadium in Sayli, Silvassa, and the computer-based exam followed on 18 April 2026. Results, merit lists and document verification calls came out in August 2026.

Eligibility

Age limit

General category: 18–27 years, counted on 3 September 2024, the closing date of the online application.

Age relaxation

  • Government servants get up to 5 years of relaxation under Government of India orders.
  • The upper age limit is also relaxable for departmental and SC/ST candidates under Government of India guidelines.
  • Contract and daily-wage employees claiming relaxation were asked to bring a certificate from their office showing their length of service at document verification.

Qualification

Forest Guard: Class 12 (HSC) pass. Forester: Class 12 (HSC) with at least 50% marks from a recognised board, with English as one of the subjects. For both posts you must also meet the physical standards, pass the walking test and hold a medical and fitness certificate from the Chief Medical Officer.

Other conditions

  • Physical standards for men: height 163 cm (158 cm for ST), chest 79 cm unexpanded and 84 cm expanded (76 and 81 cm for ST), with at least 5 cm expansion.
  • Physical standards for women: height 150 cm (142 cm for ST), chest 74 cm unexpanded and 79 cm expanded (71 and 76 cm for ST), with at least 5 cm expansion.
  • Walking test: men must cover 25 km and women 14 km, each within 4 hours.
  • The advertisement sets no residence condition, but SC, ST and OBC reservation for a district's posts goes only to communities notified for that district, and caste or non-creamy layer certificates must come from the competent authority of your district in the UT.
  • These posts are marked unsuitable for persons with benchmark disabilities, so there is no PwBD reservation.
  • Application fee is Rs 200. SC, ST and women pay no fee; ex-servicemen pay Rs 100.
  • After appointment you must complete a forestry training course within the 2-year probation, or you will not get increments.

What they ask

Advertisement No. 03 said the syllabus for each post would go up on the OJAS portal, but the daman.nic.in/ojas address now forwards to ddd.gov.in/ojas, and we could not find the Forest Guard or Forester syllabus file on either. The outline on this page therefore comes from the SSB's objection summary for the 18 April 2026 papers, plus the rule that the English part is set only in English. That summary shows a mixed general paper. The Forester paper had a greenhouse-gas question, a blood-relation puzzle and a Test cricket record from December 2025. The Dadra & Nagar Haveli Forest Guard paper had a 2025 current affairs question, a coprime-numbers question and a statement-and-conclusion question, and the Daman & Diu Forest Guard paper had a question on computer networks. Every question carries 1 mark and a wrong answer costs 0.25, so treat this list as a sample, not the full syllabus, and check ddd.gov.in/ojas when the next advertisement comes out.

How to prepare

  • Start walking practice early. Men need 25 km and women 14 km within 4 hours, and you cannot reach the computer-based exam without clearing the physical test.
  • Get your height and chest measured before you apply. The limits are fixed (for example 163 cm for men and 150 cm for women outside ST), and falling short ends your chances regardless of your exam marks.
  • Revise environment and general science basics, such as greenhouse gases, climate and pollution. The 2026 Forester paper asked about them, and they fit the job.
  • For reasoning and maths, drill blood relations, statement-and-conclusion questions and number system basics, then take daily topic-wise practice quizzes on the free Improvam app for current affairs and computer basics.
  • Wrong answers cost 0.25 marks and you need 33% to pass. In mock tests, check how often your guesses are right before you decide how much to attempt.

How to apply

  1. Read the advertisement and the detailed instructions on the SSB page at ddd.gov.in/ojas.
  2. Check the height, chest and walking test standards for your category and make sure you meet them.
  3. Apply online within the dates given and pay the fee if you are not exempt. Apply only once per post.
  4. Give an email ID and mobile number you check often, since the SSB sends all communication there.
  5. Download the admit card for the physical test, and later for the computer-based exam, when the SSB releases them.
