About AP Police Constable

SLPRB Andhra Pradesh recruits Stipendiary Cadet Trainee police constables for district police (Civil) and the Armed Reserve (AR). The notification dated 16 September 2026 lists 542 PC (Civil) and 285 PC (AR) direct recruitment vacancies, plus backlog posts reserved for local candidates in some districts. Selection runs through a preliminary written test, physical tests and a final written exam.

Eligibility

Age limit

General category: 18–24 years, counted on 1 July 2026.

Age relaxation

• OBC: 5 years
• SC: 5 years
• ST: 5 years
• EWS: 5 years
• Up to 5 years for BC (non-creamy layer), SC, ST and EWS candidates.
• Serving AP Police home guards with at least 360 days of service in the preceding two years can apply up to 32 years.
• AP State Government employees: length of regular service, up to 5 years.
• Ex-servicemen and whole-time NCC instructors: 3 years plus the length of service.
• Widows, divorced women and judicially separated women who have not remarried: up to 42 years for SC/ST, up to 37 years for others.

Qualification

Pass in Intermediate or an equivalent exam recognised by the State Government, as on 1 July 2026. SC and ST candidates who passed SSC and appeared for both years of the Intermediate exams are also eligible.

Other conditions

• The first 5% of direct recruitment posts go on open merit to locals and non-locals; the remaining 95% are for local candidates only (G.O.Ms.No.172 of 2026).
• Men: height at least 167.6 cm, chest at least 86.3 cm with 5 cm expansion. Women: height at least 152.5 cm, weight at least 40 kg. Lower limits apply to Aboriginal ST candidates in the listed agency areas.
• Date of birth is accepted only as recorded in the SSC or equivalent certificate.

Selection process

1. Preliminary written test (qualifying: 40% OC/EWS, 35% BC, 30% SC/ST)
2. Stage II online application for those who qualify
3. Physical Measurements Test (PMT)
4. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
5. Final written examination
6. Final selection: PC (Civil) on final written marks; PC (AR) on final written (100) plus PET (100) marks

AP Police Constable syllabus

What they ask

Both written exams follow one Intermediate-standard syllabus with 200 objective questions in three hours. Questions cover English, SSC-level arithmetic, reasoning, general science, Indian history and culture, geography, polity, economy and current events. The paper is set in English, Telugu and Urdu, but the English questions stay in English in every version. The preliminary test only needs qualifying marks, while the final written marks decide PC (Civil) selection.

How to prepare

• Spread your practice across all seven syllabus areas in Annexure II, because the 200 questions draw on each of them.
• Start running early: PC (Civil) candidates must clear the 1600 m run (8 minutes for men, 10 minutes 30 seconds for women) plus either the 100 m run or the long jump, and PC (AR) candidates are marked on all three events.
• Time your mock tests. 200 questions in 180 minutes leaves under a minute per question, so keep SSC-level arithmetic such as percentages and time and work quick.
• Keep your SSC certificate, community, EWS and non-creamy layer certificates and study certificates ready, since they are uploaded or checked at different stages.
• Take daily topic-wise practice quizzes on the free Improvam app for reasoning and general studies.

How to apply

1. Submit the Stage I online application at slprb.ap.gov.in with photo, signature, SSC certificate and category certificates.
2. Application and preliminary test dates are announced separately by press release on the SLPRB website.
3. If you qualify in the preliminary test, submit the Stage II application online before the PMT/PET.

• EWS certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026 by the Tahsildar, if claiming EWS
