About Andaman Police Constable
Andaman and Nicobar Police recruits constables through its own recruitment cell at Police Headquarters. The recruitment notice dated 24 April 2026 covered Group B (non-gazetted) and Group C posts across the executive branch, police radio, motor transport, marine force, fire service and the India Reserve Battalion. After a revision in June 2026, Constable (Executive) has 148 tentative vacancies (63 UR, 62 OBC, 9 ST, 14 EWS), with 20 UR, 20 OBC and 4 EWS seats set aside for women, and Constable (Bandsmen) has 4. Constable (GD), Firemen and several other posts in the same notice sit the same Higher Secondary level written paper, but some of them have different age limits, gender rules or endurance tests.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 18–25 years, counted on 17 May 2026 (the original closing date, which still applies for age after the last date was extended to 25 June 2026).
Age relaxation
- ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- Women: 18 to 30 years for Constable (Executive) and Constable (Bandsmen).
- Central government servants with three years' continuous service in the same or an allied line: up to 40 years (45 for ST).
- SSCT, DRM, ad hoc and contract workers of the A&N Administration get relaxation under the Administration's circulars named in the notice.
- Ex-servicemen may deduct their military service from their age, and the result may exceed the limit by up to 3 years.

Other conditions
- Men: height at least 168 cm, chest 81 cm expanding to 85 cm (at least 4 cm expansion). ST men: 160 cm, chest 77 cm expanding to 81 cm.
- Women: height at least 155 cm (148 cm for ST). There is no chest measurement for women.
- Endurance test for men: 1600 m in 7 minutes, long jump 12 feet and high jump 4 feet, with three chances for each jump.
- Endurance test for women: 800 m in 5 minutes, long jump 8 feet and high jump 3 feet, with three chances for each jump.
- Eyesight must be 6/6 and 6/9 without glasses or corrective surgery. The posts are not open to persons with disabilities.
- ST reservation is for tribes under the A&N Islands Scheduled Tribes order of 1959, and OBC reservation for OBCs on the Administration's list. Ex-servicemen must be registered with the Rajya Sainik Board of the islands.

What they ask
The written paper has five equal sections of 40 questions, so Hindi and computer knowledge count for as much as general knowledge. Every question is objective. The Hindi and English sections are set only in their own language, while the other three come in both Hindi and English. The notice folds general intelligence and reasoning into the General Knowledge section, and a quarter mark is lost for each wrong answer. Your rank comes from the written score plus any NCC bonus, because the physical test only decides whether you go on to the written exam.
How to prepare
- Prepare Hindi as a full subject. It carries 40 of the 200 marks, and the syllabus covers grammar, vocabulary and syntax.
- Practise basic computer questions on shortcuts, software, hardware and common terms. That section is also worth 40 marks.
- Build up your running before the PM&ET: men must cover 1600 m in 7 minutes and women 800 m in 5 minutes, and each jump allows only three chances.
- Make sure your driving licence was valid on 17 May 2026. Men need one that covers both two-wheelers and four-wheelers.

How to apply
- Read the recruitment notice and the June 2026 revision press note on the A&N Police website.
- Apply online at police.andamannicobar.gov.in and pick your PM&ET centre with care, since it cannot be changed later.
- Pay the Rs 100 fee online (women and ST candidates are exempt) and upload the payment slip as an image.
- Upload your photo and signature in the sizes given in the notice.
