About APPSC Group 1
APPSC Group-I fills senior state posts such as Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Assistant Commissioner of State Tax and District Educational Officer. Brief Notification No. 07/2026, dated 15 September 2026, lists 163 vacancies across 13 post codes. You can apply online from 6 to 27 October 2026. Age limits are not in the brief notice; APPSC will publish them in the detailed notification by 6 October 2026.
Eligibility
Qualification
A bachelor's degree from a recognised university for all post codes except DSP (Communications), which needs a B.E./B.Tech in Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Telecommunication or Radio Engineering. Qualification is counted as on the date of the detailed notification.

What they ask
The screening test has two objective papers, general studies and general aptitude, each with 120 questions in 120 minutes, and a third of a question's marks is cut for a wrong answer. Paper II mixes logical reasoning, number series, coding, Venn diagrams and basic arithmetic with science and technology and current events. The main exam is descriptive: two qualifying language papers and five 150-mark papers running from an essay to economy and science, followed by a 75-mark interview, for 825 marks in all. Mains Paper II (history, culture and geography) and Paper IV (economy) ask about Andhra Pradesh as well as India.
How to prepare
- Prepare Andhra Pradesh history, geography and economy alongside the national topics, since Mains Papers II and IV cover both India and the state.
- In the screening test, leave questions you cannot narrow down: each wrong answer costs one-third of the question's marks.
- Write timed answers and one essay every week; each mains paper is 180 minutes for 150 marks.
- Do not neglect the Telugu and English papers. They are qualifying, and the English paper asks for a precis, comprehension answers and a report on a graph or table.
- Read the detailed notification when it is out for age limits, local status rules and the physical standards for DSP posts.
