About Assam TET
Assam TET is the state's eligibility test for elementary school teachers; it is not a recruitment by itself. Paper I is for Lower Primary (Classes I to V) and Paper II for Upper Primary (Classes VI to VIII). The latest notice we could confirm, dated 6 January 2026, is a Special Assam TET only for Bodo, Garo, Manipuri and Hmar medium schools. The certificate from that test is valid for life unless the government notifies otherwise.

- You must be a permanent resident of Assam.
- Passing TET does not give you a right to a job; teacher recruitment is a separate process.

What they ask
Both papers have 150 one-mark multiple choice questions in 2 hours 30 minutes, with no negative marking. Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I and English are compulsory in both. You must clear the overall cut-off and also score at least 18 of 30 in Language I (15 for reserved categories), so a weak language section can fail you even with a good total. In Paper II you choose Mathematics and Science or Social Science for the 60-mark block.
How to prepare
- Practise Language I on its own; its separate 60% minimum (18 of 30) applies on top of the 90-mark overall pass mark.
- Study Child Development and Pedagogy from NCTE-aligned material, as it carries 30 marks in both papers.
- Answer all 150 questions, since there is no negative marking.
- In Paper II, the 60-mark subject block weighs the most, so choose the stream you studied in your degree.
