About UP Police SI
UP Police SI recruitment fills sub-inspector posts in the civil police and platoon commander posts in the PAC and the Special Security Force. The Board's notice of 12 August 2025 advertised 4,543 posts in pay band ₹9,300 to ₹34,800 with grade pay ₹4,200. Civil Police SI is the largest group, with 4,242 posts.

- For this recruitment only, a government order of 26 May 2025 gives every category a one-time 3-year relaxation. For Civil Police SI and Women Battalion posts, general candidates born between 2 July 1994 and 1 July 2004 could apply; for the PAC and Special Security Force platoon commander posts the range starts on 1 July 1994.
- SC, ST and OBC candidates and UP state government employees get 5 years on top of the one-time 3 years, so the earliest birth date is 2 July 1989 (1 July 1989 for the PAC and Special Security Force posts).
- UP ex-servicemen subtract their army service from their actual age; the result must not exceed 34 years on 1 July 2025.

Other conditions
- PAC and Special Security Force posts are for men only; Women Battalion posts are for women only.
- Physical standards for men: height 168 cm (160 cm for ST), chest 79 cm unexpanded and 84 cm expanded (77 and 82 cm for ST), with at least 5 cm expansion.
- Physical standards for women: height 152 cm (147 cm for ST) and weight at least 40 kg.
- A NIELIT 'O' level certificate, two years in the Territorial Army or an NCC 'B' certificate gives no extra marks; it only breaks ties.
- Read section 4 of the notice for reservation rules before claiming a reserved category.

What they ask
The written test has 160 objective questions in 2 hours, split into four sections of 40 questions, each section worth 100 marks for 400 in total. The law section names the new criminal codes (BNS and BNSS) along with RTI, the IT Act, land revenue laws and laws protecting women, children and Scheduled Castes. Every question except General Hindi is printed in both Hindi and English, and the English version counts if the two differ. When the test runs in more than one shift, marks are normalised section by section.
How to prepare
- You need at least 35% in every section and 50% overall, so one weak section can end your attempt. Give Hindi and reasoning regular time even if they feel easy.
- Read short guides on BNS and BNSS, since the syllabus lists these new codes by name. Add RTI, the IT Act and the laws protecting women and children to the same revision list.
- Revise the Constitution topics listed in section 2: fundamental rights, directive principles, parliament, centre-state relations, local government and the schedules.
- Train for the run well before the written result. Men need 4.8 km in 28 minutes and women 2.4 km in 16 minutes, and this test is pass or fail.

- Complete One Time Registration (OTR) on uppbpb.gov.in.
- Fill the online form, upload your educational and reservation certificates, and choose your post preferences. They cannot be changed later.
- Pay the fee online: ₹500 for general, EWS and OBC; ₹400 for SC and ST.
