About UP Assistant Teacher Primary
UPESSC selects teachers for Uttar Pradesh's government and aided schools, and this exam is for primary classes 1 to 5. Advertisement 05/2026 covers 11,508 assistant teacher posts in urban primary schools of the UP Basic Education Council and 897 posts in primary sections attached to aided secondary schools (473 in boys' schools, 424 in girls' schools). Both posts are at pay level 6 (₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400).

- The 21 to 40 limit is for the Urban post. The 5-year relaxation is for SC, ST and OBC candidates of Uttar Pradesh, and 15 years is for disabled candidates of Uttar Pradesh.
- Ex-servicemen get their period of army service plus 3 years.
- Shiksha Mitras can apply up to 60 years of age.
- For the aided-school post the advertisement gives a minimum age of 21 and a retirement age of 62; read its age section before you apply.

Other conditions

What they ask
The paper has 120 multiple-choice questions for 360 marks in 2 hours, and it is printed in both Hindi and English. Each right answer earns 3 marks and each wrong or double-marked answer costs 1. Language, science, maths and social studies are set at up to Class 12 level, while teaching skills, child psychology, IT and life skills follow the D.El.Ed course. The biggest blocks are Hindi, Sanskrit and English (30 questions), general knowledge and current affairs (25) and maths (16).
How to prepare
- Start with the language block: grammar and unseen passages in Hindi, Sanskrit and English make up 30 of the 120 questions.
- Mind the minus marking. A blind guess among four options gains nothing on average, but once you can rule out two options the guess is worth taking.
- Revise the D.El.Ed topics as one unit. Teaching skills, child psychology, IT and life skills together carry 28 questions.
- Build a current affairs file for the months before the exam, with separate pages for Uttar Pradesh news, awards and sports, since GK has 25 questions.
- Take daily topic-wise practice quizzes on the free Improvam app for maths and reasoning to cover the 21 numerical and logic questions quickly.

How to apply
- Complete One Time Registration (OTR) on upessc.up.gov.in. Registration opened on 16 September 2026 as per the advertisement.
- Fill the application in English and choose your preference between urban primary schools and aided-school primary sections.
- Upload your photo, signature and certificates. Certificates go as PDF files of 50 KB to 500 KB.
- Pay the fee by card or net banking by 15 October 2026: ₹1,000 for general, OBC and EWS; ₹500 for SC and ST; ₹300 for disabled candidates.
- Corrections are allowed until 19 October 2026. Keep three printouts of the submitted form; two sets are needed at document verification.
