What they ask

Unlike CTET, which focuses heavily on long situational pedagogy questions, UPTET asks a higher proportion of direct grammar, vocabulary, literature, UP-specific EVS/Civics facts and SCERT/UP Board textbook concepts alongside core learning theories (Thorndike, Pavlov, Skinner, Kohler, Piaget). Because there is no negative marking in either Paper I or Paper II, every candidate should attempt all 150 questions on the OMR sheet.

How to prepare

  • Revise UP SCERT (Basic Shiksha Parishad) textbooks from Class 3 to Class 8 for EVS, Science, Mathematics and Social Studies—many questions come directly from state textbook chapters.
  • Give special attention to Thorndike's laws of learning, Pavlov, Skinner, Kohler and inclusive education in Child Development and Pedagogy.
  • Choose your Language II (English, Sanskrit or Urdu) carefully based on your strongest grammar and vocabulary base.
  • Attempt all 150 questions on the OMR sheet since there is zero penalty for wrong answers.
  • Practise Child Development, Hindi grammar, Maths and EVS topic quizzes daily on the free Improvam app.
