What they ask
General Hindi is the decisive factor in UPPSC RO/ARO. In Prelims, 60 out of 200 marks come from just six Hindi vocabulary topics (10 questions each on Vilom, Vartani Shuddhi, One-word substitution, Tatsam-Tadbhav, Visheshya-Visheshan and Paryayvachi), where prepared candidates routinely score 52 to 56 out of 60. In Mains, 280 of the 400 marks are Hindi Drafting, Vocabulary and Hindi Essay, and there is no interview stage.
How to prepare
- Master the six Hindi vocabulary topics for Prelims Paper II first—scoring 55+ out of 60 in that 1-hour paper gives you a huge cushion over the General Studies paper.
- Study Uttar Pradesh Census, agriculture data, mineral resources, historical sites and state schemes thoroughly for the 140-mark GS paper.
- Practise official correspondence formats (Sarkari Patra, Ardh-Sarkari Patra, Office Memo, Circular and Tabular representation) in Hindi for the 100-mark Mains drafting paper.
- If applying for ARO, verify your DOEACC/NIELIT 'O' Level (or recognised equivalent) certificate and maintain a 25+ wpm Hindi typing speed.
- Revise General Studies and Hindi vocabulary daily with topic-wise quizzes on the free Improvam app.
