About JRBT Group C
The Joint Recruitment Board, Tripura (JRBT) works under the Directorate of Employment Services and Manpower Planning and holds one common written exam for Group C posts in several state departments. Its last Group C cycle, Advertisement 01/2020, covered 1,500 LDC posts plus 910 other Group C posts on fixed pay, with the written exam held on 22 August 2021. In February 2026 the board said it would fill the 430 posts still vacant from that cycle using candidates who sat the 2021 exam, so no fresh Group C advertisement is open yet.

General category: 18–41 years, counted on 12 March 2021.
Age relaxation
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- PwBD: 5 years
- ST, SC, PwD and government servant candidates: 5 years
- The upper limit of 41 in the 2020 cycle included a one-time COVID-19 relaxation of 1 year for all categories
- Ex-servicemen: as per re-employment norms
- Discharged ad-hoc teachers from the group of 10,323 could apply regardless of age in the 2020 cycle

Other conditions
- Knowledge of Bengali or Kokborok is desirable and may be assessed at the interview.
- SC and ST candidates from other states apply against unreserved vacancies.
- The LDC typing test is qualifying. Selected candidates who have not passed it get 6 months to do so and stay on consolidated pay without increments until they pass.

What they ask
Both JRBT papers are OMR-based with one mark per question and no negative marking. Paper I has 40 English questions on grammar and usage, such as gap filling, narration, voice change, sentence transformation, error finding and rearrangement, plus 30 job-oriented questions on office administration and the use of technology in office work. Paper II has 100 general knowledge questions on current events, Indian history, geography and the Constitution. Questions are set in English and Bengali, except the language section.
How to prepare
- Answer every question: the JRBT scheme has no negative marking.
- Paper II carries 100 of the 170 written marks, so give most of your time to Indian history, geography, the Constitution and current events.
- Drill the English grammar areas the syllabus names: narration, voice change, sentence transformation and gap filling with articles, prepositions and tenses.
- For the 30 job-oriented questions, read up on how a government office is organised and how computers are used in routine office work.
- If you apply for LDC, practise typing on a computer keyboard until you can hold 30 words per minute accurately.
