About Tripura TET
T-TET is the eligibility test TRBT holds for elementary school teaching in Tripura. Paper I is for Classes I to V and Paper II for Classes VI to VIII, and you can take both by applying separately. Passing gives you a certificate that is valid for life, but it is not a job offer: you still have to apply and be selected when TRBT advertises elementary teacher posts.

Paper I: Senior Secondary with at least 50% plus a 2-year D.El.Ed (45% under the NCTE 2002 regulations), or Senior Secondary with 50% plus a 4-year B.El.Ed or a 2-year D.Ed (Special Education), or graduation plus a 2-year D.El.Ed. Paper II: graduation plus a 2-year D.El.Ed, or graduation or post-graduation with 50% plus a B.Ed (45% under NCTE regulations), or other NCTE routes such as the 4-year B.El.Ed, B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed or B.Ed (Special Education).
Other conditions
- No age limit applies to T-TET itself. The recruitment rules set the age limit when you later apply for a teacher post.
- You must be an Indian national residing in Tripura with a Permanent Resident Certificate of Tripura (PRTC).
- SC, ST and PH candidates get up to 5% relaxation in the qualifying marks of the academic qualification. SC and ST certificates must be issued in Tripura.
- Final-year B.Ed and D.El.Ed students may sit the test provisionally but must show the pass mark sheet at scrutiny.

What they ask
Each T-TET paper has 150 one-mark MCQs in two and a half hours, with no negative marking. Paper I gives 30 marks each to child development and pedagogy, English, Bengali or Kokborok, mathematics and environmental studies. Paper II keeps the first three sections and adds a 60-mark block on either mathematics and science or social studies, which you choose while applying and cannot change. Questions are in English and Bengali, except the language sections.
How to prepare
- Aim for well above 90 marks (83 for SC, ST and PH candidates) in mocks, since that is the pass line, and answer every question because there is no negative marking.
- Child development and pedagogy is common to both papers, so one round of preparation serves both if you take Paper I and Paper II.
- For Paper II, pick the 60-mark block that matches your graduation subjects, because the choice is locked once you apply.
- Choose Bengali or Kokborok as Language II based on the language you read and write best; it cannot be changed later.
- Solve the T-TET question papers of 2015, 2019, 2021 and 2022 posted on the TRBT website.
