What they ask
STPGT is a subject test: the whole paper is on the post-graduate subject you apply in. Most subjects have 150 one-mark MCQs, while Mathematics has 75 questions of 2 marks each. There is no negative marking, and papers other than the language subjects are set in English and Bengali. TRBT's syllabus lists set texts and topics for each subject; the English syllabus, for example, names specific poems.
How to prepare
- Download the STPGT syllabus for your subject from the TRBT site and map each unit to your post-graduate notes.
- In Mathematics each question is worth 2 marks, so an unanswered question costs twice as much as in other subjects; practise full 75-question papers.
- Solve the 2018 and 2019 STPGT subject papers on the TRBT website to see how questions are framed.
- Answer every question: there is no negative marking, and you need 75 marks (68 for SC, ST and PH) to make the merit list.
Practise TRBT STPGT syllabus topics a few minutes a day with short quizzes in the Improvam app.
