About TS Police Constable

TSLPRB recruits constable-level staff for the Telangana Police, the Special Protection Force, the Fire, Disaster Response, Emergency and Civil Defence Department, and Prisons. SCT stands for Stipendiary Cadet Trainee: you join on a stipend during training. The 2026 notification (Rc No. 189, dated 29 July 2026) listed 7,112 posts on the pay scale of Rs 24,280 to 72,850, with 3,697 of them for Civil constables.

General category: 18–32 years, counted on 1 July 2026.

Age relaxation

  • OBC: 5 years
  • SC: 5 years
  • ST: 5 years
  • EWS: 5 years
  • The notification's base limit is 18 to 22 years. For this 2026 recruitment the government raised the upper limit by 10 years in total (G.O.Ms.No.87, 122 and 129: 5 + 2 + 3), so a general candidate must not have turned 32 on 1 July 2026.
  • SC, ST, BC and EWS candidates get 5 more years on top of that.
  • Ex-servicemen and NCC instructors: 3 years plus their length of service. Telangana state government employees: length of regular service, up to 5 years.
  • Home Guards, and widowed, divorced or judicially separated women, have separate base limits listed in para 15-B of the notification.

Qualification

Intermediate (Class 12) or an equivalent recognised by the Telangana government, passed on or before 29 July 2026. A higher qualification is accepted on par. Fire Fighter applicants also need a valid Light Motor Vehicle driving licence on that date.

Other conditions

  • SAR CPL constable and Warder (Male) are for men only; Warder (Female) is for women only.
  • Height: at least 167.6 cm for men and 152.5 cm for women. ST candidates from the listed agency areas need 160 cm (men) or 150 cm (women).
  • Eyesight must be 6/6 distant vision in each eye with a full field of vision. Colour blindness, squint, knock-knees, flat foot, varicose veins, stammering and similar defects disqualify.
  • For Civil and AR constable, Fire Fighter and Warder posts, 95% of the vacancies in each police district, commissionerate or district go to local candidates of that unit. The local-cadre rule does not apply to SAR CPL and SPF constable posts, but you still need Telangana local status to claim any reservation.

Preliminary Written Test (Intermediate standard)

What they ask

Both written papers are objective, Intermediate standard, and set in English with Telugu or Urdu. The preliminary test has 200 questions in three hours spread over English, arithmetic, general science, Indian history and culture, geography, polity and economy, current events, reasoning and Telangana-specific content. The final written exam repeats those subjects and adds a personality section on ethics, gender sensitivity, weaker sections, social awareness and emotional intelligence. The English questions stay in English in every version of the paper.

How to prepare

  • Do not guess blindly in the preliminary test. A blank scores zero, but a wrong or double-marked answer costs 20% of that question's marks.
  • Start running practice well before the result. Men must finish 1600 m in 7 minutes 15 seconds and women 800 m in 5 minutes 20 seconds, and for AR, SAR CPL and SPF posts a faster time earns up to 100 marks.
  • Add the personality topics (ethics, gender sensitivity, weaker sections, emotional intelligence) once the preliminary test is over; they appear only in the final exam syllabus.

  • Get your Class 1 to 7 study certificates in order early. Local status decides 95% of the Civil, AR, Fire Fighter and Warder posts in each unit, and you need it to claim any reservation.
