About TGPSC Group 2
Group-II covers executive posts one level below Group-I, such as Naib Tahsildar, Assistant Commercial Tax Officer and Assistant Section Officer in the Secretariat. TGPSC selects on a written exam of four objective papers. The latest Group-II notification is No. 28/2022, dated 29 December 2022, for 783 vacancies.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 18–44 years, counted on 1 July 2022.
Age relaxation
- OBC: 5 years
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- EWS: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- Prohibition and Excise Sub Inspector: 21 to 30 years.
- Telangana state government employees: up to 5 years based on regular service. Ex-servicemen and NCC instructors: 3 years plus length of service.
- These limits are from the 2022 notice. G.O.Ms.No.30 of 8 February 2024, cited in the 2024 Group-I notice, later raised the general upper limit for non-uniformed posts to 46, so check the age table in the next Group-II notification.

- Zonal and multi-zonal posts follow the local reservation rules of G.O.Ms.No.124 of 2018.

What they ask
All four papers are objective: 150 questions in two and a half hours each, 600 marks in total. Paper I is general studies with reasoning, data interpretation and basic Class 10 English. Papers II to IV each have three 50-question sections. Paper II goes from Indian history through the Satavahanas, Kakatiyas and Asaf Jahis of Telangana to the Constitution and social policy, Paper III covers the Indian and Telangana economies, and Paper IV is entirely the Telangana movement.
How to prepare
- Cover Telangana first. Paper IV (150 marks) is only on the Telangana movement, and Papers II and III each give a full 50-question section to Telangana history or its economy.
- Prepare the Constitution and politics together with social structure and public policy, since Paper II tests them as equal sections.
- Revise Class 10 English grammar and comprehension for the basic English part of Paper I.
- Solve full 150-question papers in 150 minutes to get used to a one-question-a-minute pace over four papers.
