About TS TET
TGTET is an eligibility test, not a recruitment exam. You need a pass to be considered for teacher posts for Classes 1 to 8 in Telangana, and the score carries 20% weightage in the state's Teacher Recruitment Test (DSC). The School Education Department holds two regular sessions a year; a special September 2026 session for serving teachers cannot be used for direct recruitment.

Other conditions
- Pass marks: 60% for General and EWS, 50% for BC, 40% for SC, ST and differently abled candidates.
- The TGTET certificate stays valid for life unless the Telangana government notifies otherwise.
- The TGTET for in-service teachers (September 2026) is open only to teachers already working in government and local body schools. A pass there counts only for continuing in service or promotion, not for any direct recruitment.

What they ask
Every question is a one-mark MCQ with four options and no negative marking, and each paper has 150 questions in two and a half hours. Paper I gives 30 questions each to child development and pedagogy, Language I, English, mathematics and environmental studies, with content from Classes 1 to 5 but difficulty that can reach Class 10. Paper II replaces maths and EVS with a 60-question block: mathematics and science, or social studies. Each language section includes 6 questions on how to teach the language.
How to prepare
- Attempt every question. There is no negative marking, so a blank is simply a lost mark.
- Aim well above the pass mark. Your TGTET score, not just the pass, counts for 20% of the DSC teacher recruitment merit.
- Study pedagogy inside each subject too. The maths, EVS and language sections all include teaching-method questions, not only the Child Development section.
- Choose Language I carefully: it must be a language you studied as the medium or first language up to Class 10.
