About RSMSSB JE
RSSB's combined JEN recruitment fills junior engineer posts in the Public Works Department, the Water Resources Department and the Public Health Engineering Department. The 2026 notification has 874 posts, most of them in civil engineering. Unlike Patwari or LDC, this recruitment does not depend on a CET score.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 18–40 years, counted on 1 January 2027.
Age relaxation
- OBC: 5 years
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- EWS: 5 years
- 5 years for SC, ST, OBC, MBC and EWS men who are natives of Rajasthan; 10 years for women of these categories; 5 years for general women.
- One extra year for all applicants, because the previous JEN recruitment counted age on 1 January 2025.
- No upper age limit for widows and divorced women, as long as they are below retirement age.
Qualification
For civil degree posts, a degree in civil engineering. For civil diploma posts, a diploma in civil engineering or an Institution of Engineers qualification accepted in place of it. For mechanical/electrical posts, a diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering or the equivalent Institution of Engineers qualification. What they ask
The paper is 120 marks in 2 hours: 40 marks of Rajasthan general knowledge and 80 marks of engineering for your stream. Degree and diploma civil candidates get separate schemes, and mechanical/electrical has its own diploma-level paper. There is 1/3 negative marking, and anyone below 40 percent is not eligible for appointment.
How to prepare
- Spend most of your time on Part B, which carries two-thirds of the marks.
- Do not skip Part A: Rajasthan history, geography and polity questions are quick marks once revised.
- Match your study plan to the exact scheme for your post in the notification, since degree and diploma papers differ.
