About RPSC 2nd Grade Teacher
Senior Teacher, widely called 2nd grade teacher, is RPSC's recruitment for subject teachers in government secondary schools under the Secondary Education Department. The 2025 notification covers 6500 posts across 10 subjects, with Mathematics, Science and English having the most seats. Selection is on written exam marks alone.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 18–40 years, counted on 1 January 2026.
Age relaxation
- OBC: 5 years
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- EWS: 5 years
- Ex-servicemen: 15 years
- PwBD: 5 years
- 5 years for SC, ST, OBC, MBC and EWS men of Rajasthan; 10 years for women of these categories; 5 years for general women.
- No upper age limit for widows and divorced women.
- 3 extra years only for Sindhi and Gujarati posts, which were last advertised in 2018 and 2013; the other eight subjects get no extra relaxation in this cycle.

What they ask
Paper I has 100 questions for 200 marks in 2 hours and mixes Rajasthan GK, current affairs, world and India GK and educational psychology. Paper II carries more weight: the English subject syllabus sets it at 150 questions for 300 marks in two and a half hours. Both papers cut a third of the marks for each wrong answer. Because merit is only on written marks, every question counts.
How to prepare
- Give Paper II the larger share of your time, since it carries 300 of the 500 marks.
