About RPSC RAS
The RAS/RTS exam is RPSC's main route into Rajasthan's state and subordinate services, from RAS and RPS officers to tehsildars. The 2026 notification lists 607 posts: 192 in state services and 415 in subordinate services. Selection runs in three stages: prelims, mains and interview.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 21–40 years, counted on 1 January 2027.
Age relaxation
- OBC: 5 years
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- EWS: 5 years
- PwBD: 5 years
- 5 years for SC, ST, OBC, MBC and EWS men who are natives of Rajasthan; 10 years for women of these categories.
- 5 years for general category women; no upper age limit for widows and divorced women.
- One extra year for all applicants in the 2026 cycle, because the previous notification counted age on 1 January 2025.
- Ex-servicemen get 10 years for state services and 15 years for subordinate services, subject to the caps in the notification.
- Persons with benchmark disabilities get 5 more years on top of the other relaxations.

Other conditions
- Reservation benefits for SC, ST, OBC, MBC, EWS and ex-servicemen are only for natives of Rajasthan; applicants from other states apply as general category.
- Some subordinate posts are reserved for serving ministerial staff and non-gazetted employees; the notification explains who can claim them.

What they ask
The prelims paper has 150 objective questions for 200 marks in 3 hours, and every wrong answer costs a third of the question's marks. Four of the eleven syllabus heads deal only with Rajasthan, and the current affairs head also leans on the state. The mains is fully written: in Papers I to III the unit-wise scheme mixes 50-word short answers worth 5 marks with 150-word answers worth 10 marks. RPSC notes that the unit-wise split is for guidance and can vary.
How to prepare
- Build separate notes for Rajasthan history, art and culture, geography and economy; these units repeat across prelims and mains.
- Practise 50-word and 150-word answers against a timer from the start, since the mains scheme is built on these two lengths.
- Attempt prelims mocks with the 1/3 negative marking applied, and track how many guesses actually paid off.
- Read the prelims and mains syllabus PDFs dated 9 January 2026 on the RPSC site and tick off each line as you cover it.

How to apply
- Log in at sso.rajasthan.gov.in and complete One Time Registration (OTR).
- Open the Recruitment Portal under Citizen Apps (G2C) and apply against the RAS/RTS 2026 notification.
- Check your OTR profile details against your Aadhaar and certificates before submitting, as some fields cannot be changed later.
RPSC RAS FAQs
You must be at least 21 and under 40 on 1 January 2027. SC, ST, OBC, MBC and EWS men from Rajasthan get 5 extra years, women of these categories get 10, and general women get 5. Everyone also gets one extra year in this cycle.
