About Mizoram Police SI
MPSC recruits Sub-Inspectors for the Unarmed Branch of Mizoram Police on behalf of the Home Department. The post is Group B (non-gazetted) at pay Level 7 (Rs 39,100 to 86,800). The latest advertisement, No. 29 of 2025-26 dated 9 September 2025, had 25 posts, 2 of them reserved for ex-servicemen. For this 2025 round, a Home Department order made the PET qualifying only and adopted MPSC's general syllabus for Group B non-gazetted posts.

- OBC: 3 years
- Relaxation follows the state's notification of 3 June 2019: 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC.
- Ex-servicemen deduct their military service from their age, under the Mizoram Ex-Servicemen (Re-employment in Civil Posts) Rules, 2019.
Qualification
Graduation from a recognised university.
Other conditions
- Men: height 168 cm and chest 84 cm expanding to 89 cm (163 cm and 79 to 84 cm for SC/ST).
- Women: height 157 cm and weight at least 45 kg; no chest standard.
- Computer proficiency as prescribed in the 2023 recruitment rules amendment.
- A pass in the Mizo Language Proficiency test unless you studied Mizo in Class 10 or above in Mizoram, or as MIL outside the state.

What they ask
The written exam follows MPSC's general competitive scheme for Group B non-gazetted posts. Paper I is a 3-hour English paper that mixes written tasks (precis, letter, comprehension and essay, 40 marks) with 60 marks of grammar and usage MCQs. Paper II is a 2-hour MCQ paper: 100 marks of general knowledge, 60 of arithmetic and 40 of reasoning. Mizo culture, heritage and society carry 16 of the GK marks, more than any other GK topic, and the other GK topics also cover Mizoram where they apply.
How to prepare
- Start PET training before you apply. The 2025 advertisement asks for 1 km in 4 minutes 23 seconds and 100 m in 14.5 seconds, plus a 2.70 m long jump and 90 cm high jump.
- Give Mizo culture and society proper attention. At 16 marks it is the largest single GK topic in Paper II.
- Practise a precis, a letter and an essay under time. The written part of Paper I is 40 marks and needs handwriting practice, not just MCQ drills.

Not in the 2025 recruitment. A Home Department order of 24 July 2025 made the PET a qualifying test only, as a one-time measure. Check the next advertisement for any change.
