About Mizoram JE Civil (P&E)
Junior Engineers (Civil) in Mizoram's Power and Electricity Department run and maintain the department's hydro-electric projects. They also build and maintain its buildings and the approach roads to hydel sites. MPSC recruits them as Group B non-gazetted staff at pay Level 7. Advertisement No. 8 of 2026-27 had 8 posts.

What they ask
The two technical papers carry 400 of the 600 written marks, each as a 2-hour MCQ paper. The syllabus is tuned to hill work: slope stability, retaining and breast walls, and landslide correction alone carry 50 marks, and hydrology with rainwater harvesting carries 30. Paper IV also tests estimating and costing, surveying, tendering and contract rules, and ends with a 30-mark aptitude section. Papers I and II follow the general English and GK format of MPSC's technical competitive exam for Group B non-gazetted posts.
How to prepare
- Study retaining, breast and toe walls, slope movement and landslide investigation well. That one unit is worth 50 marks in Paper III.
- Practise estimating problems (trapezoidal and Simpson's rules, centre line method, bar bending schedules), which carry 50 marks in Paper IV.
- Revise tendering steps, measurement books and the contract topics in the syllabus (offer and acceptance, free consent, indemnity and guarantee) for the 30-mark professional practices section.
- Avoid guessing on the technical MCQs, since each wrong answer loses a third of its marks.
