About Mizoram Nursing Officer
MPSC fills nursing posts for the Health and Family Welfare Department, where the Staff Nurse post has been renamed Nursing Officer, and for the prisons. The job covers direct patient care, ward management, records and public health work. Advertisement No. 12 of 2026-27 listed 40 Nursing Officer posts and 2 Staff Nurse posts, all Group B non-gazetted at pay Level 7.

Other conditions
- Computer proficiency as prescribed in the 2023 recruitment rules amendment.
- A pass in the Mizo Language Proficiency test unless you studied Mizo in Class 10 or above in Mizoram, or as MIL outside the state.
- Of the 40 Nursing Officer posts, 2 are reserved for persons with benchmark disabilities and 2 for ex-servicemen.

What they ask
Two of the four papers are general and two are nursing. The technical papers carry 400 of the 600 written marks, set as MCQs in 2 hours each. Paper III is weighted towards nursing foundations with first aid and medical surgical nursing, 80 marks each, and Paper IV splits evenly across child health, mental health, midwifery and community health. Paper I asks for written précis, letter, comprehension and essay alongside grammar MCQs, and every wrong MCQ answer costs a third of its marks.
How to prepare
- Put most of your time into Papers III and IV. Together they are 400 of the 600 written marks.
- Start with nursing foundations and medical surgical nursing, which are 80 marks each in Paper III.
- Do not guess blindly on the technical papers, since each wrong answer loses a third of its marks.
