About Mizoram MCS CCE
The MCS combined competitive exam fills the state's Group A entry posts in four services: civil service, police service, finance and accounts, and information service. MPSC runs it under the Mizoram Civil Services (Combined Competitive Examination) Rules, 2025. The 2025 advertisement (No. 1 of 2025-26) had 19 posts: 15 in the civil service, 2 in finance and accounts, and 1 each in the police and information services. Pay is Level 10 of the pay matrix (Rs 56,100 to 1,24,500).
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 21–35 years, counted on 1 August 2025.
Age relaxation
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- The rules allow relaxation of the upper limit only for SC, ST, OBC, disabled defence personnel, ex-servicemen (including ECO/SSCO officers) and persons with benchmark disabilities, as set out in the state's age-relaxation notification of 3 June 2019.
- That notification gives 5 years to SC and ST, 3 years to OBC and 10 years to persons with disabilities (15 years for SC/ST and 13 years for OBC candidates with disabilities).
- Under the 2025 rules, age is counted on 1 August of the year the advertisement comes out.

Other conditions
- You must be a permanent resident of Mizoram, or your parents or direct ancestors must be, shown through documents such as electoral roll enrolment and a birth certificate.
- Basic computer application knowledge as fixed by the government is required.
- You must reach the minimum score in the Mizo Language Proficiency qualifying test.
- Candidates who choose the Mizoram Police Service need a height of 163 cm (men) or 152 cm (women); men also need a chest of 79 cm, expanding to 84 cm.

What they ask
The prelims tests general studies and aptitude in two objective papers of 200 marks each, with a one-third penalty for each wrong answer. Paper II only needs 33%, but you must sit both papers or you are disqualified. The Main is fully written, in English, with seven compulsory 250-mark papers and no optional subject under the 2025 rules. General Studies V is a whole paper on Mizoram: its history and chiefs, geography, state institutions, grievance and service laws, and the state economy and budget. General English only needs 40% and does not count towards your rank.
How to prepare
- Give General Studies V real time. It is a full 250-mark paper on Mizoram, and on equal totals the candidate with more GS V marks ranks higher.
- Keep Paper II safe first. It is qualifying at 33%, and a wrong answer costs a third of the marks, so skip questions you cannot work out.
- Practise timed essay-type answers in English for all seven Main papers, and read the 2025 MCS Main question papers that MPSC has posted.
- If you want the police service, train for the PET early: men need 100 m in 15 seconds and 1,000 m in 5 minutes; women need 100 m in 18 seconds and 1,000 m in 7 minutes, plus long and high jump.
- Clear the Mizo Language Proficiency test and get your computer proficiency certificate before you apply, since both are eligibility conditions.

How to apply
- Complete one-time registration on the MPSC online portal (mpsconline.mizoram.gov.in).
- Fill the application for the Mizoram Civil Services (Combined Competitive) exam and pay the fee; persons with disabilities are exempt.
- Check that the application actually shows as submitted after payment.
- Government employees apply through proper channel and inform their head of office in writing.
