About Mizoram Assistant & UDC
This is Mizoram's main clerical recruitment, run by MPSC for the Assistant Grade in the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms and UDC posts across departments. Assistants and UDCs handle files, receipts and office records. The 2026 advertisement (No. 13 of 2026-27) listed 65 posts: 30 Assistants at pay Level 7 and 35 UDCs at Level 6, spread over 14 departments and offices.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 18–35 years, counted on 1 January 2026.
Age relaxation
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- The advertisement gives SC and ST candidates 5 extra years and points to the state's 2019 relaxation notification for other categories.
- That notification gives 3 years to OBC and 10 years to persons with disabilities; ex-servicemen deduct their military service from their age.
Qualification
A Bachelor's degree from a recognised university.
Other conditions
- Computer proficiency as prescribed in the 2023 amendment to the Mizoram Group A, B and C recruitment rules.
- A pass in the Mizo Language Proficiency test, unless you studied Mizo in Class 10 or above in Mizoram, or took Mizo as MIL outside the state.
- You must choose your post preference in the application, and the choice is final.

What they ask
Both papers are in English. Each MCQ carries 2 marks, and a wrong answer costs a third of that. Paper I mixes 75 MCQs on general knowledge and English with a short written section of precis, essay and comprehension worth 50 marks. Paper II is all MCQ: 35 on basic computer use, 30 on arithmetic and 35 on reasoning. The general knowledge section includes questions on Mizo history and culture.
How to prepare
- Treat Basic Computer Knowledge as scoring marks. It is 70 of Paper II's 200 marks and covers everyday topics like word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and the internet.
- Write one precis and one short essay a week. Part B is 50 marks of descriptive English inside Paper I, and many candidates prepare only for MCQs.
- Do not guess wildly. Each question carries 2 marks and a wrong answer costs a third of that, so three wrong answers cancel out one correct answer.
- Revise Mizo history and culture alongside Indian polity, history and economy for the GK section.

How to apply
- Complete one-time registration on mpsconline.mizoram.gov.in by 4 pm on the last date.
- Fill the form, choose your post preferences and pay the fee (persons with disabilities are exempt).
- Upload all documents before the last date; later changes are not allowed.
- Check that the application shows as submitted after payment.

Yes. A 2025 amendment to the Ministerial Service exam regulations cuts one third of the marks for each wrong MCQ answer. Leaving a question blank carries no penalty.
