About Haryana Staff Nurse
HSSC recruits nurses for the Haryana Health Department, the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) and ESI Health Care. Advertisement 04/2026 lists 1,475 Nurse posts under DMER, 296 under the Health Department and 20 Staff Nurse posts in ESI Health Care, all at pay level FPL-7. Only Group C CET-qualified candidates can apply, and the written exam is mostly nursing subjects.

Age limit
General category: 18–42 years.
Age relaxation
- SC: 5 years
- OBC: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- Relaxation is for DSC/OSC, BC-A/BC-B, PwBD, ex-servicemen and other categories resident in Haryana, as per the state instruction of 25 March 2022.
- With relaxation, the upper age cannot go past 52 years, except for ex-servicemen.
Qualification

What they ask
The written exam has 100 questions for 100 marks in 1 hour 45 minutes, on an OMR sheet in English and Hindi. About 70 percent of it follows the GNM and B.Sc Nursing subjects: anatomy, physiology, nutrition, microbiology, pharmacology, nursing foundations, medical surgical nursing, community, child and mental health nursing, midwifery and nursing management. The remaining share covers general awareness with Haryana topics and computer basics. A wrong answer is not penalised, but a question with no bubble filled costs one mark.
How to prepare
- Revise your GNM or B.Sc Nursing textbooks subject by subject, because 70 percent of the paper follows the nursing syllabus.
- Give extra time to medical surgical nursing, which has by far the longest topic list in the syllabus, and then to midwifery and community health nursing.
- Keep your Haryana Nurses Registration Council registration current before you apply; it is part of the essential qualification.
- Fill the fifth bubble for any question you skip; an empty row costs one mark.
