About Haryana Police Constable
HSSC recruits constables for Haryana Police from candidates who have qualified the Group C CET. Advertisement 01/2026 covers 5,500 posts: 4,500 male general duty, 600 female general duty and 400 male Government Railway Police. Candidates are called in CET merit order for a physical measurement test and a timed race, and those who pass sit a written knowledge test.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 18–25 years, counted on 1 January 2026.
Age relaxation
- SC: 5 years
- OBC: 5 years
- EWS: 5 years
- The 5-year relaxation covers Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and EWS, as per Haryana government instructions.
- Those who applied under Advt. 14/2024 (male and female general duty) are judged at 18 to 25 on 1 September 2024, but must apply afresh.
- For ex-servicemen, the gap between discharge and 1 January 2026 must not be more than four years.

- Government Railway Police posts are for men only.

What they ask
The knowledge test is an OMR paper worth 97 marks, set at 10+2 standard and printed in Hindi and English. The advertisement fixes two minimums: at least 10 percent of questions on basic computers and at least 20 percent on Haryana. The rest comes from general studies, science, current affairs, reasoning, mental aptitude, numerical ability, agriculture and animal husbandry. A wrong answer carries no penalty, but a question with no bubble filled costs 0.97 marks. You need 50 percent in the knowledge test for a general post and 40 percent for a reserved post.
How to prepare
- Train for the race before the written test. Men must run 2.5 km in 12 minutes and women 1 km in 6 minutes, and anyone who misses the time is out before the knowledge test.
- Keep a Haryana GK notebook on districts, rivers, history, culture and state schemes. At least a fifth of the paper is about the state.
- Revise computer basics, since at least 10 percent of questions are on them.
- Cover the basics of agriculture and animal husbandry; both are named in the official syllabus.
- If you hold an NCC certificate, keep a copy issued by the DG NCC that shows the grade. A, B and C certificates add 1, 2 and 3 marks.
