About Haryana CET Group C

CET is HSSC's screening test for almost every Group C job in Haryana, apart from teaching posts that need HTET. Under the CET policy notified on 31 December 2024, CET marks stay valid for three years, and you can sit a later CET to raise your score. HSSC then advertises the actual posts and invites CET-qualified candidates to a post-wise Phase-II exam: for most posts up to ten times the vacancies, while police posts go through physical tests in batches first. The most recent Group C CET (Advt. 01/2025) was held on 26 and 27 July 2025.

Eligibility

Age limit

General category: 18–42 years.

Age relaxation

  • SC: 5 years
  • OBC: 5 years
  • PwBD: 10 years
  • Age is checked on the last date of CET registration, using the Haryana government's Group C limits.
  • With relaxation, the upper age cannot go past 52 years, except for ex-servicemen.
  • Individual posts can set narrower limits in their Phase-II advertisement. Police constable and jail warder posts, for example, are 18 to 25.

Qualification

Class 10+2 or equivalent, or Matric with an additional qualification, as set in the CET policy. You may also sit CET if you are due to pass the qualifying exam in the year the CET is held. Each Phase-II advertisement then sets its own qualification and the date by which you must hold it.

Other conditions

  • Open to Indian citizens, and to subjects of Nepal or Bhutan who hold an eligibility certificate from the government.
  • Reservation benefits go only to bonafide residents of Haryana; reserved-category candidates from other states count as general.
  • Registration is done on the onetimeregn.haryana.gov.in portal.

What they ask

The CET policy splits the paper into two blocks. Three-quarters of the weight goes to general awareness, reasoning, quantitative ability, English, Hindi and computer knowledge, and one quarter to Haryana's history, current affairs, literature, geography, environment and culture. Questions are set at 10+2 level, but Hindi and English stay at matric level. You need 50 percent to qualify (40 percent for reserved categories), and your CET score then decides your place in the queue for Phase-II calls.

How to prepare

  • Give the Haryana block a full quarter of your study time. It is written into the CET policy as 25 percent of the paper.
  • Aim well above the 50 percent qualifying mark. For most Phase-II posts, calls go in CET merit order and stop at ten times the posts, so a bare pass may not reach popular posts.
  • Keep your CET registration number safe. The same number is used for later CETs and for every Phase-II application.
  • Practise basic computer questions on terms, MS Office and the internet, since computer knowledge is part of the Group C paper.
