About JKSSB JE Electrical
The power corporations under the Power Development Department send their junior engineer vacancies to JKSSB, which runs the exam. Advertisement Notification No. 02 of 2025, dated 27 February 2025, listed 292 Junior Engineer (Electrical) posts at pay Level-6 (35400-112400): 92 in the transmission corporation, 60 in Jammu distribution, 129 in Kashmir distribution and 11 in the power corporation. Selection is on the written OMR test alone.

What they ask
The JE Electrical paper is fully technical: 120 marks in two hours with no general knowledge section. Electrical machines and power systems carry 25 marks each and together make up more than 40% of the paper. Circuits and measurements carry 15 marks each, and four electronics and control topics carry 10 each. Every wrong answer costs a quarter of the question's marks.
How to prepare
- Start with electrical machines and power systems, which carry 50 of the 120 marks between them.
- Revise protection, earthing, sub-station practice and tariffs from the power systems list, since the syllabus names each of them.
- Solve numericals on network theorems and three-phase circuits every day. They are quick marks once the method is automatic.
- Keep 8085 microprocessor and digital electronics short and exam-focused. Together they are worth 10 marks.
