About JKSSB Accounts Assistant
Accounts Assistants work under the Director General, Accounts and Treasuries, in the J&K Finance Department, at pay Level-5 (29200-92300). JKSSB advertised 600 UT cadre posts under Advertisement Notification No. 10 of 2025, dated 24 November 2025. Selection rests on the written OMR test alone, so your rank in that one paper decides the result.

What they ask
The Accounts Assistant paper carries 120 marks in two hours, with a quarter of a question's marks cut for each wrong answer. Accountancy and J&K-focused general knowledge carry 30 marks each, and six other subjects carry 10 marks each. The accountancy section goes beyond book keeping to PFMS, taxation and cost accounting, and the mathematics section reaches Class 11 and 12 topics such as limits, matrices and vectors. There is no interview or skill test, so the written score alone decides selection.
How to prepare
- Put accountancy first. Journal entries, ledgers, the trial balance, final accounts and bank reconciliation carry 30 marks and reward practice more than reading.
- Read up on PFMS and government accounting separately, since the syllabus names them and commerce textbooks rarely cover them.
- Spread your time across the six 10-mark subjects rather than skipping any. Statistics and mathematics each have a fixed topic list that you can finish.
- Use daily topic-wise quizzes on the free Improvam app for general English, science and computer basics.
- Check the minimum marks in your degree before applying: 50% for open merit and 45% for reserved categories.
