About KPTCL Junior Powerman
KPTCL recruits Junior Station Attendants for itself and Junior Powermen for itself and the five electricity supply companies. The 2024 non-Kalyana-Karnataka notification had 411 Junior Station Attendant and 81 Junior Powerman posts in KPTCL, plus 2,268 Junior Powerman posts across the supply companies. There is no written exam: candidates are shortlisted on SSLC marks and then take an endurance test. For the first three years, selected candidates are trainees on a consolidated monthly stipend of Rs 17,000, Rs 19,000 and Rs 21,000.

General category: 18–35 years, counted on 20 November 2024 (last date for online applications).
Age relaxation
- OBC: 3 years
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- Upper age limit is 35 for general merit, 38 for Category 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B, and 40 for SC, ST and Category-1 (2024 notification).
- Ex-servicemen get their period of service plus 3 years, up to age 45. Persons with disabilities and widows get 10 extra years.
- Gram Vidyut Prathinidhis (micro feeder franchisees) get relaxation equal to their years of service, up to 10 years, but only for posts in the electricity supply companies. The notification gives them no relaxation for KPTCL posts.

- You must be able to read and write Kannada.

No written exam

What they ask
There is no question paper for this recruitment. KPTCL ranks applicants by SSLC or Class 10 percentage and calls five candidates per post to the endurance test. You must climb an 8-metre electric pole and clear at least two of the other four events. The events carry no marks, so the final list again follows SSLC percentage and reservation.
How to prepare
- Check the cut-off marks lists from the last cycle on the KPTCL recruitment page. With no written exam, your SSLC percentage decides whether you get called.
- Practise pole climbing under supervision with proper safety gear. It is the one compulsory event, and the notification says candidates take part at their own risk.
- Train regularly for the running events, aiming for 100 m in under 14 seconds and 800 m in under 3 minutes, so that clearing two optional events is not left to luck.
- Take a physical fitness certificate from a government district medical officer and self-attested copies of your documents to the endurance test, as the notification requires.
