About KREIS Teacher
The Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Society (KREIS) runs residential schools that include Morarji Desai, Kittur Rani Chennamma, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Indira Gandhi and Dr B.R. Ambedkar residential schools. In July 2026 KEA notified 767 teacher posts in these schools (725 new and 42 backlog) for the non-Kalyana-Karnataka cadre. The pay scale is Rs 54,175-99,400.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 18–45 years, counted on Last date for online applications (13 August 2026 in the notification; later extended to 17 August 2026).
Age relaxation
- OBC: 3 years
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- For language, mathematics, science and social science teacher posts, the upper age limit is 45 for general merit, 48 for Category 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B, and 50 for SC, ST and Category-1. These figures already include a one-time 5-year relaxation under a government order dated 29 January 2026.
- Ex-servicemen get their period of service plus 3 years. Persons with disabilities and widows get 10 extra years.

What they ask
Both papers have 100 objective questions for 100 marks in two hours, with 0.25 of a mark lost for each wrong answer. Paper 1 is the same kind of Karnataka-focused general knowledge paper used in other KEA recruitments. Paper 2 is where you stand out: it tests the subject you will teach, following the post-wise syllabus KEA has published. You need 35% to be considered.
How to prepare
- Paper 2 is specific to your post. Download KEA's post-wise Paper 2 syllabus and use it as your checklist.
- Paper 1 overlaps with the VAO and PDO general knowledge papers, so older KEA and KPSC question papers are useful practice for the Karnataka topics.
- Check your TET or CTET status before applying. Without a KARTET Paper 2 or CTET pass, you are not eligible for the language and subject teacher posts.
