About MP Police SI
This MPESB test fills Subedar and Sub-Inspector posts in the Madhya Pradesh Police. The 2026 rulebook has three non-technical posts and four technical ones, 507 posts in all, with 312 of them in the district police force. There is a prelims, then a mains, a physical test and an interview.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: Up to 33 years, counted on 23 September 2026.
Age relaxation
- OBC: 5 years
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- Women of all categories from MP: upper limit 38.
- SC, ST and OBC men from MP: upper limit 38. EWS men stay at 33.
- Candidates from other states: 33 with no relaxation.
Qualification
Subedar and SI (SAF and district police): a graduate degree from a recognised university. SI (Armourer): a 3-year diploma in mechanical engineering. SI (Photo, Questioned Documents, Fingerprint): a graduate degree with mathematics, physics and chemistry.
Other conditions
- Non-domicile candidates can apply only against unreserved open posts.
- SI (Special Armed Force) is for men only.

What they ask
The prelims is a 100-mark screening test in 2 hours with no negative marking, and its marks do not count in the final selection. Ten times the posts in each category go to the mains. Each mains paper is 300 marks in 2 hours with a third of a mark cut for each wrong answer, so guessing costs you there. After the mains, three times the posts are called to the physical test, and those who clear it face a 50-mark interview.
How to prepare
- Treat the prelims as a gate and the mains as the real contest, because only mains and later stages decide your rank.
- Practise mains-style questions with the 1/3 negative mark in mind, and skip questions you cannot narrow down.
- Prepare for data interpretation without a calculator, since the rulebook does not allow one in Paper 2.
- Read the internal security and role-of-police topics closely; they are listed by name in the mains syllabus.
- Build running and jumping fitness alongside study, because the physical test follows the mains and no health-based exemption is given.
