About MP Police Constable

MPESB runs this test for Police Headquarters, Madhya Pradesh, to fill constable (general duty) posts. The 2026 rulebook lists 7,500 posts: 700 in the Special Armed Force, open to men only, and 6,800 in other units. Selection is a written test followed by a physical test, and the final merit adds both scores.

General category: 18–33 years, counted on 6 October 2026.

Age relaxation

  • OBC: 5 years
  • SC: 5 years
  • ST: 5 years
  • Women of all categories from Madhya Pradesh: upper limit 38.
  • SC, ST and OBC men from Madhya Pradesh: upper limit 38. EWS men stay at 33.
  • Candidates from other states: upper limit 33 with no relaxation.

Qualification

Class 10 pass under the 10+2 system, or Higher Secondary or equivalent, for UR, SC and OBC candidates. ST candidates need Class 8 pass or equivalent.

Other conditions

  • Candidates who are not MP domiciles can apply only against unreserved open posts and get no reservation or age relaxation.
  • Special Armed Force constable posts are for men only.
  • Live registration with an MP employment office and Aadhaar registration are mandatory.
  • Height: men 168 cm (160 cm for ST), women 155 cm. Chest for men 81 cm unexpanded and 86 cm expanded (ST 76/81 cm); SAF has its own table.

What they ask

The written test is 100 marks in 2 hours, with one mark for each correct answer and nothing cut for wrong ones. About seven times the number of posts in each category are called to the physical test on a percentile cut-off. The physical test is also out of 100, you need at least 30 of it, and those marks are added to your written marks for the final list. For men, the 800 m run alone carries 40 marks.

How to prepare

  • Attempt every question in the written test, since the 2026 rulebook has no negative marking.
  • Start running practice now: the 800 m run is worth 40 of the 100 physical test marks for men, and faster times earn more marks.
  • Keep simple arithmetic and basic science sharp, as that section alone is 30 marks.
  • Get your caste, domicile and employment office registration papers ready before the physical test, because documents are checked at that stage.
