About Gujarat TET 1
TET-I is the State Examination Board's eligibility test for teaching Classes 1 to 5 in Gujarat's primary schools, including Vidyasahayak posts. Passing it makes you eligible for later teacher recruitment; it does not appoint you by itself. TET-II is a separate test for Classes 6 to 8.

What they ask
TET-I has 150 questions for 150 marks in 120 minutes, in five sections of 30 marks each, and wrong answers carry no penalty. The language sections mix reading comprehension with questions on how to teach the language, and the maths and environmental studies sections carry pedagogy questions too. The child development section adds reasoning, teacher aptitude and data interpretation questions to the psychology topics.
How to prepare
- Split your time evenly. All five sections carry 30 marks, so a weak section costs as much as a strong one earns.
- Study child development for the 6 to 11 age group together with classroom situations, since questions test how you would apply the theory.
- For each subject, practise pedagogy questions alongside content: how you would teach a concept, not only the concept.
- Solve the final answer keys SEB publishes on sebexam.org after each TET-I to see the question style.

Gujarat TET 1 FAQs
TET-I is for Classes 1 to 5 and has five sections of 30 marks. TET-II is for Classes 6 to 8 and has two sections of 75 questions each, as set in the Education Department resolution of 8 October 2025.
