About Gujarat TAT-S
TAT-S is the State Examination Board's aptitude test for people who want to teach in Gujarat's government and registered private secondary schools. It produces a merit list, not a job offer: passing makes you eligible for teacher recruitment held separately. The test has an MCQ prelim and a descriptive main exam.

What they ask
The TAT-S prelim has 200 one-mark MCQs in 180 minutes. Part 1 is common to all: education trends and GK, teacher aptitude, reasoning, and Gujarati and English. Part 2 has 80 questions on your subject, drawn from the Class 9 and 10 syllabus but pitched at graduate difficulty, and 20 on how to teach it. Candidates above the cut-off write two descriptive papers: a language paper and a subject-and-pedagogy paper with answers of 150 to 180 words, shorter answers and objective items.
How to prepare
- Prepare educational psychology and classroom evaluation, including Bloom's taxonomy, for the 35-question teacher aptitude block.
- Revise the Class 9 and 10 syllabus of your subject in depth. Subject content is 80 of the 200 prelim marks and is set at graduate difficulty.
- For the main exam, practise 150 to 180 word answers in your subject with a clear teaching method in each.
- Aim for 60% in the main exam if you are in the General category, or 55% for reserved categories and candidates with disabilities. Below that you do not enter the merit list.
