About Goa Police Constable
GSSC recruits Goa Police constables for the Office of the Director General of Police, all at pay level 2. Advertisement No. 2 of 2026, dated 20 February 2026, listed 360 Police Constable posts (302 for men, 58 for women), 119 Armed Police constable posts and 111 Constable Driver posts. The same advertisement also covered prison wardens, forest guards and a few other uniformed posts, with one common first-stage test.

General category: Up to 28 years, counted on Last date of application (13 March 2026 in Advertisement No. 2 of 2026).
Age relaxation
- OBC: 3 years
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- Police Constable (Male/Female): government servants, ex-Agniveers, and Security Guards or Housekeeping Staff with at least three years of service in the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation get up to 5 years.
- Police Constable (Armed Police): government servants get up to 5 years, and Home Guards with at least three years of service get up to 3 years.
- Police Constable Driver (Grade-III): the upper limit is 25 years. Government servants get up to 5 years, and Home Guards with at least five years of service as a driver get up to 5 years.
- Ex-servicemen also get relaxation under the orders in force.

For the Driver post, candidates holding a valid heavy or light vehicle licence with two years' experience as a driver and a clean record may opt for it.
Other conditions
- Police Constable and Armed Police, men: height at least 168 cm; chest 80 cm unexpanded and 85 cm expanded.
- Police Constable and Armed Police, women: height at least 157 cm and weight at least 42 kg.
- Physical test for men: 100 m in 14 seconds, long jump 4.2 m and high jump 1.3 m (three chances each), 800 m in 2 minutes 50 seconds.
- Physical test for women: 100 m in 18.5 seconds, long jump 3.1 m and high jump 0.9 m (three chances each), 400 m in 1 minute 40 seconds. Ex-servicemen aged 30 and above have easier standards listed in the advertisement.
- Constable Driver: height 165 cm and chest 78.74 cm unexpanded, 83.80 cm expanded. The advertisement lists no running or jumping events for this post.
- You need a valid 15-year residence certificate issued by the competent authority in Goa and registration with the Goa Employment Exchange.
- Of the 302 male posts, 37 are reserved for ex-Agniveers and GHRDC security or housekeeping staff with 3 years' service; 6 of the 58 female posts are reserved the same way.

What they ask
Both computer-based tests are multiple choice with no negative marking. English carries half of CBT-I (30 of 60 marks), and the rest is split between reasoning, arithmetic and Konkani. The Konkani questions come first, and the sample papers GSSC has published for other Group C posts set them in Devanagari script, such as completing proverbs and picking word meanings, with a fifth option of "None of the above". CBT-II drops Konkani and adds 20 marks on the general history of Goa, and only CBT-II marks (plus any NCC bonus) decide your rank.
How to prepare
- Clear the Konkani cut-off before anything else. If you score below 4 out of 10 in the Konkani section of CBT-I, the rest of your paper is not evaluated.
- Give English the most time early on: it is 30 of the 60 marks in CBT-I and 20 of the 60 in CBT-II.
- Prepare the general history of Goa as a separate subject for CBT-II. It is a third of the paper that decides the merit list.
- Start running and jumping practice before the CBT-I result. For Police Constable and Armed Police, men must run 800 m in 2 minutes 50 seconds and women 400 m in 1 minute 40 seconds, and a miss in the PET ends your chance whatever your CBT score.
- Keep your NCC certificate ready if you have one; a C certificate adds 3 marks to your CBT-II score.

- Complete One-Time Registration: on gssc.goa.gov.in open Recruitment, choose Candidate and click Apply here, which takes you to cbes.goa.gov.in to register.
- Log in and apply separately for each post you want, in your category.
- Upload your photograph and signature as JPG or JPEG files under 1 MB.
- Pay the fee online by net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI. For these level-2 posts it is Rs 200 for unreserved, Rs 100 for OBC and EWS, and Rs 50 for SC/ST candidates.
- Download your application after the payment goes through.
