About Goa Primary Teacher
GSSC recruits teachers for government primary schools run by the Directorate of Education, Goa, at pay level 6. Advertisement No. 1 of 2026, dated 30 January 2026, listed 390 posts: 352 in Marathi-medium schools and 38 in Konkani-medium schools. The exam has two computer-based tests and a short class demonstration, and GSSC has published sample papers for both mediums.

Age limit
General category: Up to 45 years, counted on Last date of application (20 February 2026 in Advertisement No. 1 of 2026).
Age relaxation
- OBC: 3 years
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- PwD candidates who are SC or ST get 15 years; PwD candidates who are OBC get 13 years.
- Government servants get up to 5 years; ex-servicemen get relaxation under the rules in force.

What they ask
The first test is a general screening paper, but CBT-II is built around the language of your medium: 40 of its 80 marks are Marathi or Konkani, including basic grammar. Another 10 marks cover teaching methods and pedagogy, and English, arithmetic and reasoning take 10 marks each. The Marathi-medium sample paper on the GSSC site has 80 questions, matching this layout. After CBT-II, shortlisted candidates teach a short concept in front of a panel for 10 more marks.
How to prepare
- Make the medium language your main subject. Marathi or Konkani grammar and usage is half of CBT-II, the test that counts towards merit.
- Konkani-medium candidates face a higher Konkani cut-off in CBT-I: 8 out of 20, against 4 out of 10 for Marathi-medium candidates.
- Revise the pedagogy you studied for D.El.Ed. and TET; methodology is a separate 10-mark section in CBT-II.
- Prepare two or three short demonstration lessons for primary classes. The class demonstration adds 10 marks to your combined score.
- Work through the GSSC sample paper for your medium before the exam to get used to the question layout.
