About CG Police Constable
Police Headquarters in Nava Raipur recruits constables for district police units, battalions and training schools across Chhattisgarh. The latest advertisement took online applications on cgpolice.gov.in from 20 October to 30 November 2023 and was open only to local residents of the state. The police department runs the physical tests, and the written exam for candidates who cleared them was conducted by CG Vyapam (exam code PHQC25).

Age relaxation

- ST: 5 years
- Local women of Chhattisgarh get up to 10 years on the upper limit.
- Widowed, abandoned and divorced women of Chhattisgarh get 5 years.
- Government and corporation employees, ex-servicemen, Home Guards and holders of listed state awards get relaxation under state rules.

Other conditions
- Height for men: 168 cm (General, SC, OBC), 158 cm (ST) and 153 cm (ST of Bastar and Surguja divisions, including Jashpur). Chest for men: 81 cm unexpanded (76 cm for ST) with at least 5 cm expansion.
- Height for women: 158 cm, or 153 cm for ST candidates of Bastar and Surguja divisions.
- Eyesight without glasses must be at least 6/9 in one eye and 6/12 in the other. Flat foot, knock knees and colour blindness disqualify.
- Up to 10 bonus marks (5 each) for NCC C certificate, NSS certificate or state/national-level sports achievement.

What they ask
The written paper has 100 one-mark questions in 2 hours with no negative marking, so every question is worth attempting. Chhattisgarh GK carries 30 marks, more than national GK at 20, and it follows the same state topics as the CGPSC prelims plus a unit on police. Reasoning (30) and arithmetic (20) stay at a basic level: series, coding, percentages, averages and time-distance. The physical test is scored too, so your running and jumping marks count alongside the written score.
How to prepare
- Train for the 800 m run and long jump from the start, since the physical test carries 100 marks for GD posts.
- Build Chhattisgarh GK as your biggest written section: 30 questions on state history, geography, tribes, festivals, economy and current affairs, plus basic police knowledge.
- Answer every question in the written paper because wrong answers are not penalised.
- Keep your NCC C or NSS certificate ready before the last date, since bonus marks count only if you held it by then.
