About CG TET
CG TET is the eligibility test you must pass to be appointed as a teacher for Classes 1 to 8 in Chhattisgarh. SCERT Chhattisgarh sets the rules and the Staff Selection Board (formerly Vyapam) conducts it; the latest round ran under exam code TET26. Passing gives an eligibility certificate, not a job, and the certificate stays valid for life.

Paper 1 (Classes 1 to 5): Higher Secondary with 50% and a two-year diploma in elementary education (D.El.Ed), or 45% with D.El.Ed under the NCTE 2002 regulations, or 50% with a two-year D.Ed (special education), or graduation with a two-year D.El.Ed; final-year students of these courses may also appear. Paper 2 (Classes 6 to 8): graduation with a two-year D.El.Ed, or graduation with 50% and B.Ed, or graduation with 45% and B.Ed under NCTE rules, or 50% in Higher Secondary with a four-year B.El.Ed or B.A./B.Sc.Ed, or graduation with 50% and B.Ed (special education); students of these courses may also appear.
Other conditions
- Pass mark is 60%. SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer) and divyang candidates need 50%.
- Reserved categories get up to 5% relaxation in the qualifying marks of the degree or diploma.
- Only teacher-training courses recognised by NCTE (or RCI for special education) are accepted.
- The certificate is valid for life, and you can appear again to improve your score.

What they ask
Each paper has 150 one-mark questions in 2 hours 30 minutes and no negative marking. Child development and pedagogy is compulsory in both papers, and it is set around children aged 6 to 11 for Paper 1 and 11 to 14 for Paper 2. Language questions test Hindi grammar and English usage along with how children learn a language. Subject questions mix content with teaching method, so expect items on how you would explain a topic in class.
How to prepare
- Pick the right paper: Paper 1 for Classes 1 to 5, Paper 2 for Classes 6 to 8, or both if you want both levels.
- Master Piaget, Vygotsky and the RTE Act 2009, since child development carries 30 marks in both papers.
- Attempt all 150 questions, because the paper has no negative marking.
- Aim above 60% (50% for reserved categories) with margin, as a score below that gives only a marksheet, not a certificate.
- Solve the model answer keys of the latest TET papers on the CGSSB website to see the question style.
