About CG Shikshak Bharti
The Directorate of Public Instruction recruits Shikshak for government schools by subject, and the Staff Selection Board runs the written exam (code LST26). The 2026 detailed advertisement lists 1,654 posts (868 in the E cadre and 786 in the T cadre) across Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Mathematics, Social Science and Agriculture. You can apply for only one subject, and you need a Chhattisgarh local resident certificate.

- ST: 5 years
- SC, ST and OBC relaxation is for candidates of those categories of Chhattisgarh.
- Women get up to 10 years on the upper limit.
- All relaxations together cannot take the age past 45.

Other conditions
- You must hold a local resident (domicile) certificate of Chhattisgarh.

What they ask
Every subject paper has 100 one-mark questions in 2 hours, with a quarter mark cut for each wrong answer. Half the paper is your own subject at school-teaching depth; in the Mathematics paper that means arithmetic, algebra, statistics and a little geometry and trigonometry. The other half tests child development and pedagogy plus language and general studies.
How to prepare
- Download the syllabus for your subject from the LST26 page; each subject has a separate PDF with its own marks split.
- Spend the most time on the 50-mark subject section, since it decides most of the merit.
- Confirm your graduation subjects match the table in the advertisement before you apply.
- Keep your TET certificate ready unless you are applying for Agriculture, where B.Ed is needed but TET is not.
